Biography:

Prof. Asher Grunis is the former President of the Supreme Court of Israel (2012–2015) and one of Israel’s most respected jurists. With a legal career spanning more than five decades, he has authored thousands of decisions and helped shape key doctrines in civil, commercial, administrative, and constitutional law. Since retiring from the bench, Prof. Grunis has served as an arbitrator and mediator in complex, high-value disputes, both in first-instance and appellate arbitral roles.

He currently serves as a professor of law at the University of Haifa and, in 2022, was appointed Chair of the State Commission of Inquiry into the acquisition of submarines and naval vessels. Prof. Grunis’s scholarly and judicial contributions continue to influence Israeli law at the highest levels.
