Bernardo M. Cremades Sanz-Pastor is one of the world’s most distinguished figures in international arbitration, with over four decades of experience as counsel, party-appointed arbitrator, and president in more than 400 international arbitrations under the rules of major institutions including ICSID, ICC, LCIA, AAA, CRCICA, and ad hoc tribunals.
He serves as Senior Partner at B. Cremades y Asociados and has been a leading force in shaping arbitration practice across Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Bernardo is recognised by Chambers & Partners as Spain’s foremost expert in international arbitration, consistently ranked in Band 1 for dispute resolution.
His academic achievements include doctoral degrees from both the University of Seville and the University of Cologne, as well as a Fulbright Scholarship in the United States. He has received numerous international honours, including Germany’s Order of Merit (Verdienstkreuz), France’s Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite, and Spain’s Grand Cross of the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort.
Beyond his professional practice, Bernardo is an active thought leader, authoring and editing leading publications on arbitration, including Arbitration in Spain (Butterworths, 1991) and Rethinking the Paradigms of International Arbitration (ICC Institute, 2023).
